My advice about root preparation and moving time are definitely based on transferring from ground to pot or ground to new ground and not just re-potting which, frankly, can be done at any time as it doesn't involve root disturbance apart from, maybe, a bit of teasing out.
It's a risk, as @Nollie says, but it's either that or just dig up and discard isn't it?

Just reread the first post, and if its just a risk to the patio you are worried about then could we see a wider pic showing the patio. It looks like it might be on a concrete slab from the picture? If thats the case I wouldn't think you need to worry unduly myself
Have read all your comments and am having doubts on moving it, maybe I will just leave it where it is. It is about 5 years old and I have cut it back quite a lot already. Will send a pic of how close it is too patio
It is nearer the step about 10ins but 2ft away from patio. I am going to keep it smaller anyway by pruning, would this in anyway reduce the root spread?
Funnily enough we have moved our Olive tree today. It is about 10 feet tall and has been in the previous location for 12 years. It was hard work but we did it! It’s looking a bit sad at the moment but hopefully it’s just sulking. Will let you know if it survives the move in a week or 2. I really hope it does.

Personally I doubt the roots will do any damage at all to the patio from that position, but don’t take that as gospel!
