Thanks ever so much for the further advice - going to be lovely for the next 10 days, so am hopefully going to see a bit of success with my seedlings.
  • Hi,

I've had a wooden mini greenhouse for a few years now. I have a max/min thermometer in it to assist and would note

    • They make virtually no difference to the min temperature at night. Don't leave anything in it you wouldn't leave outside
    • They heat up quickly during the day as soon as they get any sun on them. On a warm sunny day with the top doors closed it can exceed 50c
    • Even on an overcast day where the max air temp is 14-15c, it will regularly sit at 21-22c all day
    • At this time of year I put all my tomato, pepper and chilli plants in in the morning, open the top doors and leave them in until about 6pm.
    • From late May I will leave the pepper and chilli plants in it full time. If the weather forecast is sunny and warm i'll move them to an outdoor spot around 10am as it will just be too hot in the greenhouse
    • I have been toying with putting a 100l plastic container full of water in the bottom section and seeing if it would store heat during the day and slowly release it at night to keep the temp inside a few degrees warmer than outside. Don't see why it won't work.
