Garden design software ?

Hello  all,

I would like to change some areas of my garden  and to confirm if I need planning permission the  planning dept have asked for example photos.

I haven't managed to find something online that represents  my situation so wondering if there is a programme or online site where you can create a garden design ?  I tried a few sites with extreme  limited success.

Others may disagree, but I have never seen anything of any use.

I think we get fooled by TV shows like "Your Garden Made Perfect" which show us 3D animations of garden transformations in seconds. These animations take months to produce by experts using very expensive software and hardware.
For free there is stuff like - https://www.gardena.com/uk/garden-life/garden-planner/ and I think there is still a free option for this - https://sketchup.com/
A review of landscape design software here - https://www.thespruce.com/best-landscape-design-software-5105016 Note the prices of some of this stuff and then add in the training and skill required to use it.

I've never heard of a good garden design software package for amateur gardeners either but there is a huge amount of images for garden design on Pinterest, including drawings and photos so I'd have a look there and see if anything suits or could be adapted.

Does your planning department in Switzerland have any guidelines or restrictions that you could work to?   That would help you create a garden that conforms to any local planning regulations.
