Pruning a Strellis Regina “Bird of Paradise”

We have just purchased a Strellis Regina “Bird of Paradise” and we would appreciate advice on (1) dealing with dead flowers, (2) when and how to prune?
Any advice is most welcome

Strelitzia reginae....Never tried to grow it but dead flowers can be cut off.
I have never seen one pruned...they just keep growing into bigger plants/clumps.

We are putting our plant now outside during the day as the weather warms up and there is plenty of sunshine...bringing it in a night.
