Pinching Cosmos

I have for the first time pinched out my cosmos plants I also have cosmos brightness which are much more compact and not leggy like the others does this variety need the same treatment.

    If you want multiple flowering stems, they all need pinching. Pinching is not really a cure for legginess.

    I am always nervous about doing this. how many times should one do it? Presumably each new 'side' shoot that results from the initial pinching out?

    re legginess I find they will tolerate a little burying. I think there was a thread about that on here?

    I only do it once, that will give you a nicely branched plant.

    You've just answered my question punkdoc. I'm growing them for the first time this year, the dwarf ones. They are looking good and standing with 2 sets of true leaves at the mo.

    Thanks everyone think I will delay sowing next year as yes they do grow so quickly
