Vine weevil problems

Hiya, just wanted to ask if you've ever had problems with vine weevils and how you tackled the problem and what sort of success you've had? I've been struggling to get ontop of it over the past couple of years and have just found loads of weevil grubs in my pots and now in my raised planters!!! I'm at a loss as to how to prevent them as all my online searches seem that I have to use nematodes but only at certain points when it's warm enough or chemical solution both of which are hugely expensive. I feel like these nasty critters are making me throw money away as many plants have been affected now, dead or struggling. 😫😭🪲😠 Any advice that's been useful to help get rid of them will be gratefully received. Thank you.

I know @wild edges goes on night-time hunts with a torch for the adult weevils.
Personally l use nematodes on all my pots and (touch wood) they seem to work.

I appreciate your comments about the cost of using them, but when you factor in the cost of replacement plants ,not to mention the heartbreak of finding the damage to your plants time after time, it might be worth considering  :)

Thank you @AnniD please can you tell me when you added the nematodes as it says best in summer when weather is warmer. They are quite small at the moment but I imagine they'll be huge by summer? Do nematodes work on the little larvae and the larger grubs and beetles? Think I might go online shopping for nematodes! 🤔

These are the suppliers that l use (others are available).

Their advice is to apply as soon as the grubs are spotted. As you can see they do different size packs depending on the area you need to cover.
Mine are scheduled to arrive this week but they usually have around 10 days until the "use by" date if memory serves me right. You just keep them in the fridge, but you must use the whole pack in one go.

I used my nematodes on the 20th Aprill to treat the plants in my raised beds after finding loads of grubs in all my pots, the pots had the plants removed about 2yrs prior but the soil and the roots remained so maybe the VW larvae were surviving on the old roots?

Will treat everything later in the year.

    Failure is always an option.
