Mesh to retain sand

I’m setting up a trough with pots plunged in sand. But I want to retain the sand with some mesh as the trough is too deep and I can’t fill the whole thing with sand. Any ideas what to buy to achieve this? Thanks

Could you use something like non-woven groundcover fabric?

Do you mean you're putting something else in the bottom? If so, then a layer of fabric as @Liriodendron describes is ideal.
Is there a reason why you're putting pots into sand rather than just planting the plants in soil/compost?
