Any idea what this is, please?

Have come across a few of these seedlings in my garden this year. Don't recognise it. Any ideas? Friend or foe?!

    Ah! Thank you. I've never noticed their seed leaves before - quite unusual. Can't think where our nearest beech tree is but must be one somewhere!
