    I wouldn't plant anything else in that pot to compete with your revived tree. You could make the pot look more interesting though with a topping of small washed pebbles or other decorative stones.  They will help to retain moisture in your pot and keep weeds at bay.  Most garden centres have a range of options to choose from.

    Good to see the shrub/tree revived. I would leave the base free of any planting. It may need re-potting next year, so you need to keep an eye on watering more generously. It's not a Bay, it's a Photinia.

    I absolutely agree with @Jellyfire Much better grown as a single specimen it has much more impact visually and gives a strong shape. So many plants are already struggling with the dry weather so keep it well watered.
    I notice you have some other pots nearby. As said a change in leaf shape to the tree  would add to the interest.  

    I have worked as a Gardener for 24 years. My latest garden is a new build garden on heavy clay.
