"but no flowers at all beyond last spring." That's because you've pruned all the flowering stems off - as already said. Don't prune it and you'll probably have plenty next year.
I'm not sure it'll be happy in that pot for long though, unless it's one of those smaller, compact types. It'll need the soil refreshed too - anything potted needs more attention than in the ground.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Fairy is right about pruning, I don't think I ever pruned mine and they produced hundreds of flowers every year once the plants were established.
Also, you need really big pots to give it a good few years to get sorted.
Yes I reckon I messed up witht he pruning. It was certainly looking wonderfully healthy but no sign of flowers. I will have to be more patient. Your plant looks lovely!
Thanks Busy-Lizzie...unfortunately the picture is from a few years ago, I've been away from gardening since mid 2019 due to illness, but feeling a little better now.
I've planted 4 more Ceanothus Skylark this week in the same pots, so should be treated to the same display in a couple of years.
