Gardening for the disabled.

Have there been any articles on gardening for the disabled? I've recently become disabled and would welcome any advice on waist high gardening equipment and planting.

I don't, but I do often visit this site run by Fred who is also disabled.
I had a question one day and he very kindly phoned me to offer advice.
He seems a really genuine guy.
    Best of luck!

For your prompt reply. And good luck with your gardening.
  • Roto-shovel may become your new good friend! It’s basically a very short augur that can be used as a general soil tiller and for easy hole digging.
I tried one out after falling down the stairs and not being able to walk for many months. It feels about the same as operating power drill, can be tilted and pushed away from you.

    Hope this helps!

Mark Lane is a wheelchair user and an occasional presenter on Gardener’s World, he has done several features on adapted tools and equipment. I assume you mean you are a WCU now too? What garden layout, height of raised beds, tools etc., will best suit you depends on how much upper body strength and movement you retain. Google Mark’s name and you will get lots of links, but here’s one:
