    Where are you thinking of growing your plant @jamiebrand19956AP2cmjK? They are very vigorous plants and need a trellis or wires for support, they also need a warm sheltered spot to grow and get to a fruit bearing stage. GC's will always try and sell you plants that don't suit the conditions you can give it.
    this should help

    I have kiwi Jenny. Quite vigorous, it twines through the nearby trees. I have had tiny flowers but haven't had any fruit set yet in spite of being self-fertile.

    And then my heart with pleasure fills,
    And dances with the daffodils (roses). Taking a bit of liberty with Wordsworth :)

    I've got two of these and they went outside recently and had the same thing happen. I think it's a combination of the sun and wind (it's been really windy lately and it can dry plants out very quickly). It will bounce back fine.
    This is only the second year I've had them so no fruit yet but we had one years ago that did really well for years before it was killed off by a really cold winter.
  • @floralies I have recently built a couple of raised beds out of fresh wooden pallets I stripped down. Stapled some landscape fabric to the bottom and I am going to line the insides with old compost bags to protect the wood inside.  I have a plan in mind  to strap to the sides at one side and have either a trellis for vining fruits/vegetables or hanging twine for tomatoes etc. & Then add supports for mesh/netting to protect from pests. Wether the vision in my mind works or not we shall see haha.
     If not there I'm sure I could sort an area elsewhere. Perhaps at the edging of my garden. I hadn't quite got that far. Only at the beginning of my gardening journey. Probably a bit naive buying the kiwi plant but I wanted something to work and care for whilst my seedlings grew.

    Reading some of these comments about the plant not fruiting whilst being "self fertile" is a little disheartening. Never the less I shall do my best.
    @Eustace

    @thevictorian Its been kept inside a plastic  greenhouse during the day & a night so I don't think wind is an issue. It could be the sun being concentrated on it through the plastic so I've moved it elsewhere to see if that helps.
    Maybe it's the humidity inside the greenhouse. I'm unsure. Thought I'd consult with some more experienced gardeners on here.

    Thank you all for your help.

    Afriend has hundreds of fruits a year but none develop enough to eat. The plants are huge and grow on a strong trellis in full sun.
    I have worked as a Gardener for 24 years. My latest garden is a new build garden on heavy clay.

    Kiwi "Jenny" was a successful fruiter for me in SW France ( deep bed, plenty of support and south facing ).
    Also grew well in SW UK but reluctant to fruit.  Hate to say it, but Scotland may just be a Kiwi too far ;)

    @philippasmith2 hahaha, nice one :smiley: I'll see how it goes. Hopefully the dry leaves clear up a bit because it is still growing new vines & leaves so I'm hopeful. Won't hold out for fruit but perhaps it'll end up a pretty part of my garden. Part of the family now :lol:

    @GardenerSuze sounds so frustrating! So close yet so far 😅 'll be sure to post an update down the line.
