Yellow leaves on Skimmias in pots

I have 2 skimmias in pots-one either side of my front door which is south facing. Their leaves have gone yellow, despite feeding with organic liquid feed. Help/advice please!

They don't like bright sun - that makes them go yellow. I'm guessing south-facing is sunny!
  • Thanks-I had forgotten that! Moving them now.

If you have to keep them in pots, they need large ones, and they need a soil based medium to grow in, not just compost.  That isn't sufficient for any shrub long term. You also need to refresh that soil mix every year as it becomes depleted.
A shadier site definitely. Even in the ground, and in a cooler environment, they can get badly faded with sun    :)

I find they have a tendency to go yellow even in a fairly shady location. Mine always look a bit sick.

Some sequestered iron with magnesium and manganese may sort it out if it's not too far gone. If the plant is in the right sort of compost/garden soil, and it's had enough water it's often a deficiency the the stuff above should correct.
One dose each Spring should be enough.
