Akebia quinata

I bought two of these but one died before maturing. The other is flourishing. To get the berries I need two separate plants (both sexes are on each plant). If I grow a further plant from propagation will this allow for cross pollination or do they need to be genetically different?

I don't know the answer unfortunately but would just say that I hope you have plenty of room. They can be very vigorous twining vines when they get established. I've just taken mine out as it was getting out of hand and strangling a nearby hedge.

I agree looking after one can be more than enough to deal with. Sorry I did not know it has berries. The one I looked after had to be cut back after flowering to stop it covering other climbers.
I have worked as a Gardener for 24 years. My latest garden is a new build garden on heavy clay.
