Whats happening to my mandarin?

Ive started to notice my trees branches darken at the tips and this then work its way down the branch...is it on its way out? It has produced shoots now, is there anything i can do to save it?

    I think it would help to post a pic of the actual plant if possible.  The stem you show is dying back and can be cut at a point beyond the dieback.
    However, for anyone to offer any useful advice more info is needed :)
