Which tall perennials work best in a tight space ?

    I’d suggest something with a big tap root so doesn’t need much surface area, hollyhocks, foxgloves spring to mind, not reliably perennial as such but freely self seed and love a nook or cranny

    Evening primrose perhaps? They seem to seed in the tiniest of cracks so should be OK in that very small area. Otherwise another vote for hollyhocks
  • Got quite a few plants over the weekend - helenium , sanguisorba and Verbena bon .
    Will be planting the heleniums and see how things go .
