A Ligularia of some kind? Ligularia dentata has very toothy edged leaves though. Photo from Ballyroberts gardens.
My final (and maybe best) guess, given what you've said about the flowers, is a Brunnera...some have white flowers, like 'Betty Bowring'. Photo from Farmer Gracy.
Thanks for all that research BlueBirder! Yeah I’ve thought of those & particularly Ligularia, thought maybe I divided some & forgot! The runners flowers ring a bell. Had a look this am & it looks suspiciously like the viola odereta next to it but a monster version. I’m not going to know til flowering-watch this space & thanks again
