Hi, at the weekend we moved our lavender plant from the back of the border to nearer the front and it’s now looking very limp; has anyone got any suggestions on what we can try to get it looking good again? I’m worried by moving it that we’ve killed it.
Moving it, you wouldn't have taken all the roots and it's starting to flower. So it's suffering. Have you given it a good watering? It may be prudent to cut all the flowers off, so it can out energy back into growing roots.
Yes I’ve given it a good water including some food and hoping it’ll pick up but it’s not looking good. I’ll try cutting the pruning it and hopefully it’ll repair itself. I’m so disappointed as it was looking pretty good! Thanks for your help.
It's probably better not to give it food until it's recovered from being moved, it won't be able to use food until the roots have recovered from being moved. It's struggling to take up enough water to support the soft growth which is why it's wilting and why pruning will help, by reducing the amount of green growth that it needs to support. Don't take it down to bare brown wood though, just shorten the green parts.
Doncaster, South Yorkshire. Soil type: sandy, well-drained
I agree with @JennyJ. The wilting is from being transplanted, and being unable to get enough moisture to the top growth. Cutting back will help until it's well enough established. Feeding isn't required, for the reasons given
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Thank you both for your replies and advice; I’ve given it a good pruning so will see what happens! Am completely new to gardening so appreciate your help!
