what's eating the buds of my bulbs?

Hi guys. Something has been chowing down on the leaves and unopened buds of my bulbs... mini daffs mainly. I don't think it's a mollusc as there is no accompanying slime.

Any ideas? They're gone completely in some cases

Try going out after dusk with a torch, a bucket and gloves.  I'm sure you'll find slimesters a-plenty to gather into the bucket and destroy.

    Thanks, I will try.

On a side note, I was taken to the Vendée as a child camping. Great memories. Lovely place!

Slugs, without doubt. I often get damage on my narcissus. Foliage and flowers.

The buggers eat through the bottom of the stem on my daffs until they topple. I think that they're being clever so that they don't have to climb up to eat the rest but then they leave the fallen stem and go on to the next one :o

A muntjac ate my tulip buds, OH caught it in the act. Well, not literally caught - it ran away.
