Oxalis - can I put them outside?

I recently read on GW Facebook page that purple Oxalis can be grown in soil outside.  I have several small ones as houseplants - would now be the time to put them outside?  Acclimatise first? What do folk think?

    @Drumelzier You can definiately grow them outside here in South Notts. I have known them to grow happily for a few years and then get hit by rust so got rid of them. Yes I would harden off first. Also if they are very small I would grow them on in the pots until they are a good size.
    I have worked as a Gardener for 24 years. My latest garden is a new build garden on heavy clay.

    Interesting! I have two as houseplants, maybe I'll try planting one of them outside. The RHS says they're only H3, hardy in coastal and relatively mild parts of the UK, but we're not very much further north than south Notts so perhaps worth a try.

    @JennyJ Yes I would have said the same as you. They were in a sheltered part of the garden.

    Will give it a go. Sod's law says we'll then get a harsher-than-normal winter.
