Is there a chemical that will kill ivy?

    I find a small pruning is the best way to cut it.

    Find the main stems. Cut and leave 😃

    Cutting  a section out of the trunk will kill off the top growth above the cut, but it comes back from the roots, and if the roots go somewhere that you can't dig them out of, like under paving, it will usually keep coming back.

    I guess spraying with glyphosate in winter would take longer, but you wouldn't need to worry about getting it on non evergreen perennials as they would be dormant.

    Unfortunately, the ivy I'm refering to is on the ground across flower beds. The stuff growing up trees is easy to control. You're right.
