I gave one grown from a cutting to a friend who is growing it in a container and got a report this week that it is doing very well and got a much stronger trunk now and has started to flower already. They do have a warmer garden than I do so not surprising it would be a bit ahead of the ones I have in the ground. They seem to deal well with pruning but I would do that when they are dormant over winter rather than in spring as I'd be afraid that at that stage it would take away from the flowering. I'd suggest using a pot to fit the size of root you have got when you dug up your one from the ground. Once the roots have filed the initial pot you could increase the pot size to one you feel it would fit well in for your garden space but I'd imagine they would need regular water in the summer.
