Identify these beetles on my yo Acer tree.
Hi, I'm after some help and advice. There are lots of reddy brown on my Acer

But at a guess they could be scale insects.
I've had them on one of my acers before.
I use a scrubbing brush to remove them. They didn't return.

Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit.
Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad.

Scale insects do not move. They're a bit like limpets. They stick to wherever they are.
So if they move around, they're not scale insects.
If they don't move around, lift one off the plant and see if it has something that looks like cotton wool underneath. If so, then they are scale insects.
