I have pruned back my dogwood but now wonder if I have been too severe?
Any thoughts as to whether it will grow back and recover welcome.

That looks just like the textbook pictures so it ought to be fine! I've just done mine today - not quite so brave though.

Should grow back fine in my opinion.

The first time I pruned a dogwood I didn't know what it was except a large shrub getting in the way. Mine looked like yours Mary Ann and it has thrived in the last 30 years since then.
