Multipurpose compost fungus. Help needed please!

Hiya,
Can anyone advise on what to do?๐Ÿ™๐Ÿพ
I purchased Goodhome multipurpose compost this year and within a month my Vegtrug with my seedlings is full of fungi.ย  Can I treat this or will I have to dispose of everything and start again? This is so frustrating as it's the first year I actually germinated my bell peppers early and was hoping for a good crop.ย
Many thanks
Nneka

It is not a problem, the fungi will be helping to break down fibrous material in the compost and won't harm your plants.

the spores of fungi are everywhere and the fruiting bodies don't last long

The bits of the fungi you can see are the fruiting bodies and will disappear pretty quick. Most of the fungi is underground - they have amazing incredibly fine 'hyphae' which are kind of like roots (mixed in the compost) and these will be helping keep your compost healthy, so it's nothing to worry about as people have said. The spores could have come from anywhere, not necessarily in the compost itself...there are fungi spores in the air we breathe, all the time!ย

(I heard once that 1m cubed healthy soil has enough fungal hyphae to go round the equator. Amazing stuff)

I always take the appearance of fungi as a good sign :)ย
