Can I cut clematis montana back to old wood

    I have taken a couple of photos this morning @Uff, but the majority is still in bud. We have sunshine though and it's quite mild, so l'm hoping by tomorrow they will have opened up a bit more and l will try again  :)

    @Uff here it is as of this morning. Bear in mind that I am keeping it to the one section of wall, otherwise I have no doubt it would be back to where it was in 2019. I am going to let it get a little bigger height and length wise this year.
    It must be around 30 years old and was one of the first things I planted in this garden.
