Old beer and wine in the compost bin?

I know this is a weird problem to have but over the years I have accumulated several bottles of wine and beer that I didn't like the sound of and are probably now too old to drink. Is there any benefit to pouring them into the compost bin instead of down the drain?

    In the absence of someone knocking on my door for tombola prizes, that’s exactly what I’d do with them. 😊

    Have spayed beer on Turf before ,full of carbs.

    I would not like to guess on the wine. 

    I never knew retirement would be so busy. :smile:

    The sugars will provide the microbes in the heap with something to eat, just make sure no larger animals can get in, they may be attracted by the smell.

    A bit of a jump - but here are thoughts on finding sources of nitrogen and protein  as fertiliser.
