What soil to use for a rose in container

Hi I wondered if anyone could help me. I have a container that holds 50 litres of soil , I'm planting a climbing rose and I know I need John Innes no3 but don't know if I mix half and half with multi purpose compost?

Hello! I think the advice I've received on here is exactly as you say: 50/50 JI no 3 and MPC. Good luck!

I'd also put a goodly amount of manure in the bottom of the pot.
