Grass ruined by lawn feed

I have just used Miracle grow soluble on my lawn, two watering cans, just one scoop each, and covered 6 square metre, so less than advised, but lawn which was quite green is now got patches of yellow frazzled lawn, within one day. Can I recover it? Any advise most welcome

That's very strange. I use the same stuff at the recommended dosage and have never had an issue with it.

All I can suggest is water the lawn heavily. I mean absolutely drench it. It may not immediately help the yellow bits but it should wash through any other chemicals that are left in the grass. Maybe a bad batch?? Never experienced it myself. Call the number on the packaging maybe.

Oh, one quick question... It wasn't a newly laid or seeded lawn was it?
  • Nope high fences all around no neighbours cant get to it and they're all pretty lovely. It's seeded grass and the new grass seed always does seem to get frazzled quickly as it's south facing. But I've never seen it like this. The watering can had a lot of rust in it, could this be an issue?  I really don't understand it as Amazon reviews hardly show anyone with same issue

Did the powder dissolve properly? If it didn't it  could be that the burn patches got the entire dose rather than it being spread over the entire lawn.
The dosage appears to be one tablespoon per watering can (4.5L) per 2.5 m2

Could we get a photo of the yellow bits? My lawn has quite a lot of yellow in it right now and it's not had feed or weedkiller.

I agree with pansyface it's very fast to have had an effect, even if you sprayed the entire thing with roundup you wouldn't see anything happen for at least 4-5 days in this weather.
  • When you say this weather what do you mean? I feel like it was dissolved, I out it in and then put hose on high power inti watering can and just one scoop. It just doesn't make sense. Will send pic tomorrow ☺️

For damage to appear that quickly certainly suggest that the application was far too strong.  Is it possible there was residue from previous weedkiller or similar still in the watering can?

Things like that often need a good stir (with a stick or something) until there are no visible bits left. Anything not dissolved properly would have dropped to the bottom and gone onto the last bit to be treated. But it still seems unlikely that it would have such a quick effect.
