    You’re obviously a very nice person @hatty123 … not a cynical old Dove 🕊 like me 🤣

  • @hatty123 @Dovefromabove  No need to be cynical ;) I'm happy to provide more detail about my project! I'm only representing myself and this isn't for commercial gain, I'm a new gardener and find it hard to find clear information online for beginners to explain the basics.

And as it says in my original post I am keen to explore the benefits of gardening on mental and physical health, my intention is to know how well received this might be so that I might roll out the project in my local community to encourage new people to do gardening.

It's still very early since I've started my project, but my end goal is to be able to help beginners to advanced gardeners and bring local communities together

The Gardeners' World articles are a pretty cast iron source for new growers. They cover the basics - seed growing, taking cuttings, planting a container, growing plants like sweet peas, tomatoes, sunflowers, salad leaves and others that beginners usually start with. I don't think that you would go far wrong by linking those. They have good short videos too. They've done all the work, so we don't have to.

The weekly programme is good for all these beginner steps.

@tinachen0279 I’m glad I was wrong to be so cynical … and I wish you lots of luck in your gardening. 😊

It seems to me that you’re over-thinking this … the best way to learn is to start small and do things one step at a time … this website is full of information in the “How to …” section … and folk on here are always willing to help.

Post some photos of where you plan to grow things … we’ll help you work out what sort of soil you have etc and whether what you’re thinking of growing is likely to be practical there or not, and we’ll explain why too … now is the time to start … if you spend too long planning, spring will be over and the season will be too short for your plants and flowers to reach maturity before autumn and they all die down again.

So come on, jump in, tell us what you want to do … 😊
