Re pot or plant out

Had these for about 3 or so years... what can I do.. thanks

    Long-term they'd probably be happier in the ground, but if you want to keep them potted, go up a few sizes.

    Should I add a bit of all purpose compost or bonemeal to the hole or just backfill

    Yes, you can plant out potted plants any time of the year. Be careful to give them enough water over the summer.

    I wouldn't bother with compost, maybe add a bit of bonemeal to the soil you're using to backfill with, then a good watering to settle them in.

    Also a good idea to give the rootball a thorough soaking for 20 - 30 mins before planting out. Best way to do it is in a bucket or trug large enough that you can completely submerge the pot (but not the plant!). If air bubbles come out of the compost hold the pot under the water until they stop then leave the pot to soak for 20 - 30 mins. You will still need to water thoroughly after you've planted.

    Don't have anything big enough to put the pot in unfortunately

    Even a tray or something similar would do @darren hansen 134 although you may have to water a few times to make sure all the water has been taken up  :)
    As @Topbird says, then yo know all the soil is well dampened, and it therefore makes it easier to establish them. A dry root system going into the ground can sometimes stay like that, and not absorb the moisture around it well enough, especially if you're in a drier area, and the ground is warming up and drying out.
    The watering after that, until it's producing new growth consistently, is also important  :)
    It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

    An empty wheelie bin may be an option for soaking!
