Half a viburnum not flourishing

  • Looks nothing like my viburnum Anne Russell. I think it's far too close to the wall. It will need 1.5 to 2mtrs radius from its centre to do well in full sun. So close to a wall it's not getting enough water. Is it on a North or east facing wall?

Not too late to dig it up and move it into a much bigger open space. Remove half the growth. Feed and water it well. Two watering cans full of water at least once a week until November even if it has rained.
  • Here's a series of photos of mine to give you an idea as to just how big this will get and how much space it needs.

1st photo taken in summer after flowering and a trim.  To ensure it flowers next year, trim immediately after flowering and no later than the end of May unless it's a late spring.

2nd photo taken in spring.  The flowers on top were nibbled away by the local house sparrows.

    4yr old cutting.

The flower!  Gorgeous scent, i cut them and bring them indoors.

Quick update: @Cottage Compost Lovely photos - your Anne Russells look so healthy - I do like the elegant foliage.

The spot we have for ours is in shade.  We did end up swapping it out, for a Viburnum carlesii Aurora the nursery kindly offered, and that has settled in well - looking forward to its scent next Spring. I appreciated all the advice (:
