I have the same two plants in that situation @Lizzie27 and know just what you mean. The stipa flowers look as though they're made of metal don't they?

My thalictrum in that border is 'Splendide' but it's not as strong a plant as another thalictrum I have elsewhere. It was bought at an NGS plant stall but wasn't named. Do you have more than one variety, and if so could you tell me which you consider the best please?
  • Mine (both delavayi and aquilegifolium) do well in an area with no direct sunlight, in heavy clay.

Hewitt’s Double is my favourite- a good strong purple form (it’s one of the delavayi ones)

Thanks all. I have just added a few more, thalictrum delavayi, to my basket. I'll be sure to make sure they're well watered, if the rain mysteriously deserts us.
