Anemone pulsatilla - slug bait?

B3B3 Posts: 27,505
I have bought a couple of anemone pulsatilla, a purple and a red.
I am dithering about whether to put them in the ground or to keep them safer from slugs in a container. Are they of interest to slugs?

Do you mean Pulsatilla vulgaris? Pasque flower? If so, I haven't noticed mine having any interest to slugs. They are in a sunny spot with a dry surface though, a damper one might be different. They are quite hairy, including the leaves, which might be a deterrent.

    Yes I think I do😊
I might risk the ground then. Thank you @LG_

Never been troubled by slugs here, and we have plenty of them.
I've got several varieties of pasqueflower- all fine.

@B3 When you plant them firm them in well.

The only ones here which are attacked are the new seedlings.

@B3 Never known them to be eaten by slugs. I remember reading one of the Dr Hessayon books years ago which said firm in well. Something I have remembered over time. Choose your spot well as they don't seem to thrive if moved about.

  • Mine was slugged to death…starting with the flowers. But then, I have superslugs. My sister has slugs, but they like completely different plants. It’s always worth a try.
