Climber for Conifer Trunk

harmonyharmony Posts: 403
Any suggestions  for a climber for this conifer trunk other than ivy / Virginia creeper ( i already have both climbing up various things ). I would love a clematis but not sure if one would be suitable, i was thinking maybe honeysuckle if anyone can recommend one that is not too vigorous.  Thanks..

Lots of clematis would be fine. It's how they grow naturally.  :)
You'd just need to make sure it was planted well enough away from the trunk, to make it easier to establish.
Take a look at the specialist sites - Taylors, Thorncroft and Hawthornes, to see what would suit you in terms of size, aspect time of flowering etc.  :)
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

If I had a trunk like that I would definitely have a clem or two up it!
It might need a little help climbing though; some chicken wire or something
