What hedge/bush is this?

We just moved into a new house and this is in the front garden. It's very overgrown. Thanks for your help.

It's one of the loniceras [shrubby honeysuckle] and you can cut it back hard without any problem  :)
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
  • Amazing, thanks for the quick reply Fairygirl! :):)

    No problem  :)
They're often used for hedging, so it's maybe been that in the past and just hasn't been trimmed. They're fairly indestructible  :)

Yes, shrubby lonicera. It looks like "Baggesen's Gold". I have some as a very dwarf hedge edging part of a bed, and it responds very well to being cut back/clipped.
Doncaster, South Yorkshire. Soil type: sandy, well-drained

Agree with @Fairygirl Once you get it into some sort of shape you will probably have to keep it trimmed fairly regularly.  They make a nice little hedge but tend to get a bit carried away  :D
