Large Dahlia Tubers

Lovely healthy dahlias are now back in the garden in their flowering places.  Thanks for all your suggestions for starting them off again when some of the tubers were too big for pots.  I used a compost bag as suggested, 2 x old washing up bowls and a shopping bag.  Took a couple of weeks to sprout in the conservatory and then there was no stopping them. Why didn't I think of alternative containers to start them off!  I'll remember that tip for future reference. Thanks

I plant my large ones in buckets, £1 each from DIY stores, easy to cut holes in the bottom with a hot knife.

Another good idea from you thanks.  All going in the memory bank, such as it is!

Yes thank you, I'll try and post a photo when they are flowering.  Just had two stems bend near the base on one of the dahlias due to these rotten high winds.  Staked and tied now but too late probably.  Too busy getting everything else in the ground, my own fault.

Just thought I should give you an update on my dahlia's after all the good advise you gave me.  Some in pots and others in the ground but all doing equally well. Thank you.

Kind of you to come back with an update, and the Dahlias look great.

Thanks Loxley, I was asked to upload a photo and it's the least I could do after all the good advise I received.  Pity it was drizzling this morning when I took photo but can't garden so popped in here instead to learn some more. :)

Some drizzle would be very welcome here  ;)
