    It does look nice and healthy.

    I'd give it one more chance and feed it with a high potash feed.
    Something like homemade comfrey liquid (if you have it) or tomato feed. 
    We have a wood burning stove here, and I sieve the ash and tickle it round the base of flowering shrubs and some perennials like daylilies.
    Seems to work well.

  • Thanks Bee. Had been wondering about feeding. Not something I have done until now as the growth it was making suggested it didn't need any. I suppose that it could be that there isn't the right balance in the soil and it could be high in nitrogen for the leaf but not in potash/potassium for the flowers. Against that the shrubs next to it, viburnum and philadelphus bith flower happily.

    That's why I didn't ask about feeding, as you'd said the other shrubs were fine. If the soil's decent, most shrubs don't need anything else.
    No harm in adding some though, if you feel you want to give it a bit longer.  :)
    It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
