Many people find the forum from a Google search for a plant.
Others use the search facility on the forum to find answers.

Try putting this into the forum Search.
    'Buying seeds from the USA'
    Read through, it's quite interesting.
Unless you are Pauline of course.

I'm pleased to say that this past week or two this doesn't seem to be happening any more, and I'm glad, because the above was not welcoming, and let down the forum in my opinion.

This is my last word on the subject.

I found that Gallery of Shame, in its day, encouraged long time members and lurkers to contribute.
Admittedly, it was just for a laugh. it has no higher purpose. No harm in having a bit of harmless fun😊
The chatty  threads keep me relatively sane. The best thing is when the moving finger writes, we don't need tears to wash out a word of it. We can use the edit button. ( why do we still refer to buttons?)

From a newbie who was greeted with Spammer alert and told to play else where within minutes of posting, and then when challenged about the posting  it was done with a smiley Emoji so that makes it ok then.

At least some who were challenged admitted they may be wrong, I have nothing but respect for admitting they may be wrong. I joined in good faith that I want to learn on the plant side and for general gardening on plants, and in return I could offer help and advice on turf and calibration rates I have many many decades of sports turf maintenance  behind me . I also have a fair understanding of the Soil Food Web and still use compost Tea.

I have been asked by Mr P Blake  via PM to adjust my signature,  and to keep it friendly ha ha have you read this site when the so called elite members call newbies 8itches and hope their plant dies it does not come across as friendly but  very toxic by a few.

And yes I will stand up for myself and deliver it back ten fold, sorry to all members I may have upset on my postings it is far from what I wanted.

I never knew retirement would be so busy.

When people say they are upset I don't think it's appropriate to say "people are not upset".  How new posters are welcomed might not be an issue for you, it might not be an issue on your radar, it might not be central, but it's being raised.

You might not personally want to discuss it, and that's fine too.

Which goes to show that the moderators did listen to what we said.

Is there some way of closing this thread?

Why close it?  Because for a few it might contain some uncomfortable truths?

No. That is certainly not the reason.
