Sedge!!

We had several large clumps of sedge in the garden that were here when we moved in. Last year I dug up most of them ad I'm not a fan. This year, I've got loads of it growing EVERYWHERE! Have I angered the sedge Gods in some way or is it just a coincidence?

    @AngieSmash Think you mean Carex pendula if so it can set a lot of seed. It has become a big problem near rivers and streams. It is lovely in flower but there are many more sedges and grasses that you can grow that don't seed.I would clear as many as you can whilst they are small.
    I have worked as a Gardener for 24 years. My latest garden is a new build garden on heavy clay.

    I'd agree-  if it's pendula, it's a thug. If you can keep taking the seedheads off before they get a chance to seed around, it'll help, but it's a thankless task.
    The other cultivated sedges are much better behaved. 
    It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

    I don’t think you have to dig them up Angie. I decided to reduce the number of mine (although I do like it), and you can strim or cut it at the base. It did try to grow back but was easily defeated.
