Advice for resurfacing

Dear Fellows, looking for some advise, following a leftover job by our builder last year. Had few gardeners visit to quote, but all says not interested :(
What would be the best way to resurface this garden please ? The soil dumped by builder has resulted in this vegetation growth, how to get rid and perhaps returf, or convert to gravel, or artificial lawn, looking for some advice really.
Thankyou in advance :)

You could easily lay it to grass but it looks like it's on a fairly steep slope, so it's not going to be a very useful lawn, and not much fun to mow. Personally I'd either plant it up or make some sort of meadow.

I'd just turf it if you don't want to plant it up. It's not really that steep. You mow across [traverse] not up and down, when cutting on an incline.
You can either weed everything out by hand, or use a weed killer, depending on your approach. It would then need properly forked over, raked, firmed and lightly raked to get a decent surface, then turfed or seeded.
Alternatively, prep in the same way and plant with some easy shrubs and other perennials etc, depending on your time for maintenance, and your budget. A simple path can be woven through it for easier maintenance too. Brick or log edging, and gravel or bark etc to infill.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
  • Thank you for replies, yes it's a steep slop actually, hence thinking of something where can avoid mowing, thanks again for suggestions :)
