Wild garlic

The pungent smell and starry white flowers herald the advent of summer.
But, do you admit where your favourite patch is?
Oh...
it's at least 5 miles away
You can't park nearby
There's a bull in the field
You have to wade though the stream
It's on private property
It's on the local gun range
The local celebrity chef forages there so you can't.

Ours? At the end of the garden by the stream.
At least one of the above applies  B)

    Really? Do you think if I put a sign up welcoming foragers, I could get people to come in and pull up our patch of wild garlic? The b***** stuff is spreading out of control despite my efforts.

    Love wild garlic and brought a bit here with me but it didn't take.   Too dry I expect.

    The kind that is found here is the three cornered leek variety which is very pretty in flower but hasn't the same flavour so I've bought some seeds.   Fingers crossed.

    Wild garlic pasta is on the menu this week. It's one of those seasonal treats, like the first fresh nettle tea of the year, that you just can't replicate with shop bought stuff. :) I have a tame patch in my veg beds and a wilder patch that escaped my cultivation at my parents' place.
    If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

    I went wild garlic foraging one evening this past week but it was only just peeping through, not enough for what I wanted it for. One of the gardeners where I volunteer lives just up from where I was searching and I had to pop in for something. I bemoaned the fact that it wasn't ready to pick yet and was immediately shown to part of his woodland where it was ready for picking.
    I helped myself to what I wanted and a carrier bag full of roots to plant in the woodland at the side of my place. I was a happy bunny.

    I’ve just acquired some plants dug from someone else’s garden, planted them up and hope they spread and thrive so I won’t need to forage. How long will it take to spread?
