-4.2 degrees last night here in the SW!!!! Magnolia flowers all ruined, tulips collapsed, peopnies unhappy, fruit tree flowers probably wont get pollinated etc. Frosts now for the last 3 nights. Do veg and flower sowing indoors with the hope that when they are big enough to plant out the cold will be over.
Oh brilliant, I series record that - just found it, THANK YOU !!! Oh, he cut it into 3 triangles. Guess what I'm doing this week? Posy - have you used the wool pellets before? I never used the regular slug pellets as we have a lot of wildlife, i think they have banned them last week. Someone suggested beer on a saucer - got to try something though the slugs decimate my hostas.
I was going to say - verbenas aren't bulbs Tulips, and other bulbs, aren't affected by snow, unless it's proper snow, or the plants are a bit exposed with nothing to support them. You can just cut them and bring them into the house though. Rough, cold wet weather will usually do more damage, as it does with many other plants. We often get both those types of weather here at this time of year, so this year has been much kinder, apart from the ice after the wee bit of snow, but even then, plants recovered well. It's mainly things like Magnolias, Camellias etc that can get some damage if they're in flower, but they get damaged by the other stuff anyway. It's why I gave up with Camellias - not worth it. Most magnolias round here wouldn't be flowering this early, but it's been a very unusual period of weather altogether
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Papi Jo - hehehe, it's 'cos I don't get out much, I'm a nightmare on the phone when I have to ring Sky or British Gas - end up chewing their ears off lol, the plus side is that they always remember me and do a really good job of whatever I'm asking and they just appreciate someone talking to them like a real human being - they end up telling me about their cats or whatever.
AnniD - seriously, I'm such an idiot at times, I wrote on the little sticks in 'permanent' ink too - still faded ..... gonna use my label machine from now on - my memory is abysmal.
