Dismissing announcements, and app?

Forgive me guys, there was something that popped up telling me how to dismiss announcements, alas, I cannot see it now!

Also, does anyone use an app with the forum to make it easier to use on a phone?

    Click on the cog and choose dismiss

    If you think you might need a reminder on how to do something, before you dismiss the relevant announcement you can click on the Star next to  announcement title and it'll go into your Bookmarked folder ... then you can easily retrieve it if necessary
