Same, I come and go and ask more than anything but so many are helpful here especially the regulars of course and I always wish I lived near them when there’s offers of seeds and cuttings lol

That's nice of you to say so @NoSlugsPlease, and it's good that you're finding the forum so useful.
Most people here just enjoy helping where they can.  :)

I too love it here - the advice is invaluable.  It is wonderful to be among people who are so enthusiastic about plants and gardening.  And I enjoy the off piste discussions too - even if they can get a bit heated sometimes.  So a big thank you from me too.

Twenty six years ago I was privileged to be involved in setting up a Gardening Club. It is still popular today but we have very few younger members. This forum is a great way to get younger people involved in gardening, I hope I can help to encourage some of them.
So if you are just getting involved in gardening keep your questions coming, like you I am also learning.

@NoSlugsPlease It puts your faith back in Human Nature when posters like yourself come back to thank those who have helped you and to comment on the friendliness of the forum as a whole.
I have noted that there are a lot of new posters who have a query which has been answered by those who have the answers and they are never to be seen again wasting people's time.
Here's hoping we get more new posters that appreciate the help they have been given either directly to them or by reading other members queries and answers.   :)

@Fran IOM Hi Fran I do agree that sometimes I have spent time posting help only to here no more. I think the best thing is to accept and move on. If there is interaction from those asking questions they will get so much more help and advice from everyone.

It is wonderful when people share photos of their gardens, it gives me lots of ideas of planting combinations. And it is also great  when people recommend places to buy from. Thanks to @Fairygirl I found Taylor's for clematis. I must say that I love reading the banter too! Thank you all  :)

I have to say - I don't really mind if people don't come back and thank you for any advice, although the 'like' button is a good way of doing it if people want.
Because of the way notifications are done, people don't always see the replies either, so it can be useful to tag the poster's name into replies using the '@' so that they see there's a response, and hopefully, if further info is needed, they'll respond.   :)

If it's a thread where there's only a couple of people responding, it's easier for someone to offer thanks, but when it's a thread which has multiple replies, it's unrealistic for folk to do that, and it just fills pages if they quote posts and respond to each one. A simple 'thanks to everyone for the advice' , or something similar, is more than adequate  IMO :)

Glad that was helpful @bullfinch - there are other good suppliers too  ;)

What a lovely thread.  I too have had some great advice, and though I feel I just "take" rather than "give", I'm so grateful to all you knowledgeable and friendly people who take the time to reply to those of us who need your advice.  Thank you so much to you all.
