Attaching trellis to wrought iron fence/railing

Hello, I’m wanting to grow ivy and other vines on my wrought iron fence to increase privacy in my garden but am not sure how to go about attaching trellising and what would be the best type of trellis.
The fence is a railing style (like this), and is about 6 foot tall.
What type of trellis would you recommend attaching, and how?
I was thinking a wooden expandable trellis attached with strong cable ties.

I am not sure that you actually need to attach trellis to that type of railing. You can just tie on to the uprights and eventually it will cover it.

    There's a link to a picture @Nanny Beach :)
I'd agree- I don't think you'd need to bother attaching anything. At most, you might want to attach a few lengths of wire to get some horizontal growth. That wouldn't be too difficult.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

I told you, I love you Fairy! Trellis on top would look naff.

This sounds like one of the many, many uses for strong cable ties.  Buy a bundle of the larger ones to tie the trellis to the fence and, by the time they become brittle (several years), whatever is climbing the fence will be well enough established to be self supporting.

I can't take a picture (for obvious reasons) neighbour has done this and it looks truely awful. (Cable ties)Surely, the lovely metal fence alone is enough to grow up.

You can get straining wire for chain link fencing with black coating.  That would be virtually invisible.
