Water Features - Too much hassle or Worth It?

  • We made a water feature from a large pot with a pump. It gives a nice bubbling noise and is virtually maintenance free. (We cover it in winter to protect from frost)
  • I’m so sorry I don’t know how my dog photo got there! Fat fingers!

@Steady Eddie I like that idea. Is the pot simply full of water with a pump in, or do you fill some of the space in the pot?

All you need to make a "water feature" is a bucket of some kind and a pump that costs about £20.
  • We rest the pump on a few house bricks well below the water level and use the longest
    spout.

I have a home made water feature - and I quite enjoy the trickle of water during summer..but just occasionally it gets on my nerves!
I think it would get on my ... bladder. ;)

@BenCotto The water feature has been in situ now for over 20years. At the bottom is a huge plastic curved "bowl" for the water. An old drain pipe runs up the inside of the "tower" with a piece of old hose pipe inside. The pump is at the bottom. The stones were all taken from building work being done and they were part of old foundations. The stones towards the bottom do a small spiral so that the water trickling down from the top is collected and returned to the reservoir. Over the years ferns and mosses have covered up much of the stones and we think it looks good.
