Morning all, that is such a shame @punkdoc I suppose deer fencing isn't a possibility in your garden? Much cooler here today, warmest place is in the GH. OH is trying to fill a sunken area in our lawn, he put in new pipes a couple of years ago where the fig tree roots had broken the old ones, but there is a lot of surface water in the winter, but we do seem to have a high water table here.
That's heartbreaking @punkdoc. We get muntjac around here but none have got in our garden as there is plenty for them to eat on the fields and marshes over the road.
Lovely day yesterday, late lunch at daughter's followed by a walk along the river. At one part, on the other side, a long private garden fronts the river (it was owned by Elizabeth Jane Howard before she died, now her daughter lives there) and we were delighted to see three sheep and lambs there. Their bleating was a much nicer sound than a ride-on mower would be. Also a swan, ducking down to get at the weed, presenting an immaculate white bottom to us and in the distance a woodpecker. We all felt very chilled after that.
Hi all, Sounds like everyone has had a busy Easter. I spent yesterday at Firstborns enjoying a lovely roast and eating chocolate. We have decided to go away with them to their villa in Menorca at the end of May, flights and car hire booked whilst sitting in their garden after lunch. I've been in the garden today, pruning Pheasant Berry, mowing/edging lawns, cleaning out the greenhouse and getting it ready for cues and toms. Moved quite a few pots around too so will probably ache tomorrow. Hugs @Hostafan1 Hope you feel better soon DD
Still pretty fed up, not much eaten, but deep foot prints have completely squashed so many plants, in so many different places. Tonight I will be placing out the urine soaked rags and the white noise generator [ detuned radio ]

Evening all, another fairly busy day in the garden after my daughter went home, taking 3 blue pots and 3 pink phormiums. We had a real job getting them out of the pots, really potbound. I also gave her two Euronymus and a poorly blueberry bush.
That's a real worry @Punkdoc. We get the occasional deer in the front garden (we don't have a gate on the drive) but luckily they haven't done much damage yet. One appeared recently to have jumped into a lower flower bed from the lawn but just missed the bluebells. Deep hoofprints though.
Hope your back eases soon DD. I find Voltorel gel very good.
Looks like we may have a shower soon, sorely needed.
Well the Easter holiday is drawing to a close. I hope everyone has had a good time whether it was just time spent in their gardens or with family and friends. Apart from the odd shower of rain here the weather has been beautiful and I have enjoyed time spent just sitting outside and listening to the world around me. @Punkdoc so sorry to hear the news about your deer invasion, sincerely hoping that your planned preventative measures work to keep them at bay from now on. @Yviestevie lovely idea to join family for a holiday in Menorca, have fun and enjoy the break. Glad to hear that Charlie enjoyed his trip to the UK @D0dogne_Damsel but sorry to hear about your bad back, take care, rest if possible and look after yourself. Have a good evening folks.
Hi all. Just a quick post to say that we had a wonderful weekend with daughter and son in law. The weather was kind, so we were able to enjoy walks every day, and visited the seaside and the Donkey Sanctuary. I’m now exhausted and suffering the effects of too much good food and wine. Very, very early night for me. Hopefully catch up with you all tomorrow.
Yes @D0rdogne_Damsel. Many moons ago I persuaded OH to go and see one cos he had back problems and I went too. He fixed OH up very easily but, it seems, my back was a disaster (still is) so he did reflexology and found the 3 ribs I'd cracked the year before, acupuncture, massage and gentle manipulation and then told me I'd feel tired and just relax. I slept 36 hours. Still like reflexology and Alexander Technique and take plant remedies for all the arthritic bits.
Not a lot of gardening here after all apart from watering pots and seedlings. I've been trying to calculate fabric requirements for a quilt I'd like to make but need to upsize from single bed to double. Mind bending cos of the different colours needed.
Is yours the only garden affected or have your neighbours been invaded too @punkdoc? Maybe get together for some deer proof fencing?

Have a rendezvous with an holistic healing couple tomorrow, I'm trying not to be sceptical, but he talked a lot of sense. Anyone have any experience?
