Help me with my hedge please

Dear all,

I've just moved and the hedge in the driveway looks worrying. I'm not sure what species it is. The leaves are starting to look jagged - is this a fungus or from a hedge cutter? And then there's the patch of brown leaves at the end. Help please xx

I think your hedge is a Trachelospermum Jasminoides. They are usually grown as wall climbers of over an arbour. They can look like a full hedge once fully covering walls or fencing, which is what I think has happened with yours.

The damaged leaves don't look like anything serious. Just some wear and tear of the winter weather and possible damage due to it being a corner area. The rest of the plant looks fine. These evergreen plants can lose some leaves after winter. Just snip off the damage areas and that should stimulate new growth.

You've got some honeysuckle or clematis in there too, you can see in the second picture.
  • Thank you guys. That was so helpful xx
