Monstera and Bird of paradise split/damaged leaves

Hello all,
I would love some advice on behalf of my girlfriend. She has a host of house plants which suffered from thrips. With great effort and copious amounts of neem oil, she is getting the thrips issue under control, however there’s an issue with the foliage splitting/turning yellow and black on both the monstera and bird of paradise. She has been limiting watering to counteract the thrips. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
